Doctor Who

Zygons are a reptilian humanoid species from the planet Zygorax. Their most notable ability is shapeshifting, allowing them to perfectly mimic the appearance and voice of other creatures. This process requires capturing a living subject for the initial DNA imprint, after which they can indefinitely maintain the disguise.

First appearing in the 1975 serial "Terror of the Zygons", they attempted to conquer Earth, utilizing the Loch Ness Monster as a weapon. The Fourth Doctor thwarted their plans, though remnants of Zygon colonies remained hidden on Earth.

More recently, the Zygons featured prominently in the 50th anniversary special "The Day of the Doctor" and the subsequent two-part story "The Zygon Invasion" / "The Zygon Inversion". These episodes explored a fragile peace treaty between humans and Zygons, highlighting the anxieties and prejudices faced by both sides. A faction of Zygons, disillusioned with assimilation, sought to reignite the war, leading to a complex moral dilemma resolved by the Doctor's intervention and a renewed commitment to peace.

Known for their orange, wrinkled skin, suction cups, and their reliance on bio-technology, Zygons represent a formidable and adaptable foe in the Doctor Who universe, continually raising questions about identity, prejudice, and the challenges of coexistence.
